Welcome to Noah’s Arkade, a site dedicated to the reception history of the Bible in video games. This is a living page, updated with research findings, recorded gameplay, and retro games you can play online.
Project Origins: Pilot Game Redevelopment
In the beginning…
The project’s first phase focused on the pilot redevelopment of a suite of games from J. Conrod’s Computer Bible Games (1984), a “code-it-yourself” volume of BASIC programs written for early home computers. These titles are among the first video games to reimagine the biblical past in the then-emerging medium of the home computer.
To support research, teaching, and preservation, these games have been adapted in good faith under fair use guidelines for educational, personal, and research purposes, using artificial intelligence coding assistance. This is an unofficial, non-commercial project. Original BASIC code is used with permission from Philip Conrod; all original rights remain with their respective owners.
Click a title below to play. Each game runs directly in your browser — no downloads, plugins, or extra hardware required — and opens to an introductory page covering gameplay, controls, and a few strategy tips. The versions below are still under development with updates released with versional tracking. The games are not yet optimized for smartphones; they’re best played on a computer browser.
Enjoy this first foray into the ongoing history of biblical texts, tales, and thought as received in video games!
